New products call for new ways of thinking when it comes to high-performance
wear protection.
Recent years have seen a dramatic increase in the requirements regarding abrasive and
corrosive wear resistance of a barrel. This is due to the large number of new and further
developments in the portfolios of our customers.
In the majority of processes, the need for high-performance wear protection is
confined to a specific zone within the process. Consequently, this zone must be
replaced at regular intervals that are far too frequent from the producer’s perspective.
Naturally, the process of replacing this wear zone involves machinery shutdowns that
can easily last for several days. Since this downtime cannot be made up, the annual
tonnage of the entire plant is reduced.
However, it is not only our customers that have further developed their own product
portfolios. C.A.PICARD®, as a manufacturer of wear parts for the entire extruder
industry, has also been active in this area.
